New England Environmental, Inc.(NEE) works with:
- Private estate ponds;
- Golf course water hazards and irrigation ponds;
- Public park lakes and ponds; and
- Large lake systems to manage water quality, and fisheries habitat.
From algae removal, water clarification, nutrient removal, or improved
fisheries or swimming, NEE has an appropriate solution to manage all
sizes of lakes and ponds.
NEE employs certified aquatic applicators for chemical treatments,
although this approach is always a last resort to provide improved
water quality. We provide watershed management plans to investigate
causes of poor water quality, and attempt to work with adjacent landowners,
Town and State Agencies (to reduce sediment loading), and nutrient
inputs into the water body.
We use a variety of methods to improve water quality. Several
approaches may include: mechanical dredging of sediment, weed
harvesting, aeration, chemical treatment, Alum treatments, and drawdown.
Ponds which have a narrow fringe of aquatic vegetation often develop
fewer nutrient problems than ponds which have been entirely cleared
of vegetation, and NEE has developed pond planting plants and installation
services to improve both the heath, and the esthetics of ponds.
Furthermore, pond edges are often eroded ... NEE has developed innovative
approaches to stabilizing and protecting lake and pond banks using
bioengineering techniques and native vegetation.
