NEE has been providing Environmental Consulting services to clients throughout New England for over 25 years. NEE presently has fully staffed offices in Amherst, Massachusetts and Concord, New Hampshire. Our staff is comprised of geologists, hydrogeologists, Professional Wetland Scientists, Associate Scientists, Wildlife Biologists, Landscape Architects, Licensed Site Professionals (LSPs), Massachusetts Certified Aquatic Pesticide Applicators, Certified Professionals in Erosion and Sediment Control, Certified Professionals in Stormwater Quality, Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspectors, and members that are SCUBA Certified (NAUI).
NEE’s staff provides clients with a number of services related to environmental permitting, ecological restoration design, wildlife habitat surveys and assessments, rare species surveys and assessments, river and stream restoration, bioengineering design, wetland delineation and assessment, lake and pond management, hazardous waste assessment and remediation services, landscape architecture and invasive species control.
NEE’s staff also specializes in Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact statements as it relates to NEPA and has performed many environmental impact studies both at the federal and state level. NEE staff scientists are trained in the study of birds, ecological restoration, recreational planning, wildlife habitat assessments (birds, mammals, turtles, salamanders, dragonflies).
NEE’s staff is also trained in stormwater management, sediment and erosion control, for large and small construction projects where stormwater monitoring is required. NEE staff works with engineers to design stormwater management features that will accommodate runoff from small to large scale development.
NEE provides expert environmental permitting services for private, corporate, municipal and state agencies. NEE staff has many years of experience in working with complex environmental regulations and procedures. Our firm also conducts the delineation of wetlands, restoration and mitigation of wetland impacts, and the development of watershed management plans. In addition, our wildlife biologists also provide expert assessments of rare species in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
NEE staff is also experts in design services associated with ecological restoration and wetland mitigation to address the results of wetland impacts. NEE is also provides expertise in inland river bank restoration and coastal bank stabilization projects.

This person is also responsible for the corporate decisions, and they provide senior oversight and direction for clients. The principal of the company has developed an expertise in more than one technical area of study and is responsible for all levels of the company including training, education and quality. The principal also manages multiple client accounts, develops plans with clients to meet their needs.
Minimum Education and Training: M.S., professional registrations in more than one area of expertise.

Expert Witness Testimony
Expert witness testimony is provided by Senior Scientists and the Principal in their area of expertise. This work is provided for specific projects. Senior Scientists and the Principal oversee the work on these projects; provide insight for their clients on how to proceed with project case work.

Senior Project Manager
The Senior Project Manager provides project leadership, staff leadership and supervision, maintains budgets and manages projects and is responsible for client accounts, working to support and meet client needs. The position requires an understanding of state, federal and local regulations that apply to the environmental and professional practices conducted by the company. Responsibilities also include promoting collaboration with colleagues, project teaming with supporting firms, and business development.

Licensed Site Professional (LSP)
LSPs provide the overall responsibility, project management and direction of projects related to hazardous waste clean-up in Massachusetts. By the nature of this license the LSP has an understanding of the Massachusetts clean-up regulations (Massachusetts Contingency Plan - 310 CMR 40.0000), as well as other state and federal regulations. The responsibility of the LSP also includes senior leadership, collaborating with colleagues and others to remain current on in the advancement of technology and engineering solutions to environmental problems. The LSP provides support for clients and staff. They are also responsible for business development, maintaining project budgets and meeting client and regulatory deadlines.

Senior Scientist
Senior Scientists provide project leadership, scientific experience and technical expertise to projects. They are responsible for the oversight of staff and teams, provide project budgets, invoicing and scheduling for projects. They are the lead report writer for the project, and direct staff members in supporting technical project needs. The Senior Scientist assures project work is conducted in accordance with the scope of work, and that project details are met. They are also responsible for conducting field work, responsible for providing technical support on other projects and ensuring staff members supporting projects are adequately trained. They are responsible for communicating project results and the status of project work to clients.
Minimum Education and Training: Bachelors, professional registrations in more than one area of expertise.

Associate Scientist
Associate Scientists are responsible for scientific investigation, sample collection, wetland delineation and field work associated with the company projects. The responsibilities also reporting, documentation of field results, permit preparation, attending client and regulatory agency meetings. The associate scientist is also responsible for managing the time allotted to complete project work appropriately and meeting project deadlines.
Minimum Education and Training: B.S. degree in an applicable environmental science.

Landscape Architect
Landscape Architects have experience overseeing the design of a variety of projects and specialize in ecological design and planning. They are also experienced with landscape construction detailing and planting plans wetland mitigation and restoration, and river restoration design. Project work conducted includes the development of single family, multi-family, commercial, office and mixed use projects. They have extensive knowledge of zoning regulations, comprehensive planning and land development codes desired. The Landscape Architects are also responsible for conducting site visits, monitoring and checking on work site progress, ensuring deadlines are met, and generating new business opportunities.
Minimum Education and Training: B. S. or Masters in Landscape Architecture, Regional Planning or other applicable discipline.

Associate Landscape Architect
The Associate Landscape Architect conducts preliminary studies of project sites (contours, ecology, and existing buildings) to assess the project and client needs. They accurately prepare detailed plans and working drawings, including applications, construction details and project specifications. They present project work to clients, deal with client enquiries and needs. They are responsible for meeting project budgets and preparing work within the timeframe of the project. They support projects supervised by senior staff.

CAD Technician
CAD Technicians are responsible for drafting plans and preparing graphic services for company projects. They are responsible for meeting project deadlines within the time frame provided by senior members of the staff overseeing the project work. The CAD technician has a familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS and other programs required for office work.
Minimum Education and Training: Associates Degree or high school diploma with experience that demonstrates their drafting and computer proficiency.

Hydrogeologist
The hydrogeologist provides project oversight on projects involving hydrology and geology. This role is that of a project manager or senior scientist, supervising projects that involve subsurface assessment and hydrology. The hydrogeologist provides technical advice to staff members, directs project work, develops work scopes and budgets, conducts data analysis, prepared reports, participates in the field work and reviews all technical documents.

Senior Fisheries Biologist
Senior Fisheries Biologists direct and oversee all aspects of multiple projects conducted in the company. They are responsible for the coordinating staff and provide field study oversight to staff members. Project oversight includes fisheries assessments, population analysis, baseline studies, habitat improvement and restoration. They oversee the analysis of data and provide quality control for project work. The Senior Fisheries Biologist is also responsible for maintaining client relationships, developing new clients and preparing works scopes and budgets. They are responsible for technical review of project documents prepared for the company.

Associate Fisheries Biologist
Associate Fisheries Biologists works with senior staff to perform fisheries related studies and surveys to assess their habitat, environmental effects on fish species and their habitats. They are responsible for data collection, analysis and interpretation of results. They have experience in data/statistical analysis and are responsible for report preparation and field work. They are responsible for performing field work on time and within project budgets. They attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.
Minimum Education and Training: B.S. in Fisheries Biology or other related disciplines.

Senior Wildlife Biologist
Senior Wildlife Biologists provide technical leadership in wildlife biology. They design project work scopes, design studies, oversee the application of proper methodologies and techniques for field and office work. They work with existing clients and develop new clients. Responsibilities also include preparing proposals, work packages in response to client needs, and provide supervision, training and mentoring for junior staff. Senior Wildlife Biologists prepare and deliver presentations for meetings with clients and regulatory agencies, conferences and seminars. They also review technical reports for company projects and are responsible for all aspects of permitting projects as it relates to wildlife.
Minimum Education and Training: M.S. or PhD in wildlife biology or other related disciplines.

Associate Wildlife Biologist
Associate Wildlife Biologists work with senior staff to perform animal studies and surveys to assess their habitat, environmental effects on the species and their habitats, and interpret study results to provide alternative approaches to project work. They prepare permit applications, reports and assist in the preparation of study designs and work scopes for individual projects. They are responsible for performing field work on time and within project budgets. They attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies.

Wildlife/Fisheries Technician
Wildlife/Fisheries Technician support projects related to wildlife and fisheries studies. They perform scientific field work, data collection, and conduct field observation tasks. They are responsible for summarizing and evaluating results, and preparing reports.

Aquatic Entomologist
The aquatic entomologist performs jobs that measure and assess stream, river and surface water habitats as well as the species supported by these habitats. They support projects for a multi-disciplinary team of fisheries biologists, hydrogeologists, and senior scientists at the company. They design field studies, prepare budgets for project work, conduct field work, perform data analysis, prepare report text and are responsible for meeting project budgets and schedules. They are also responsible for managing current clients, and developing new clients. The Aquatic entomologist is also responsible for performing work in accordance with existing permits, preparing permit applications and has significant knowledge of local, state and federal regulations.
Minimum Education and Training: M.S. or PhD in Aquatic Entomology, Aquatic Ecology or other related disciplines.

Geologist
The geologists are responsible for site investigation, interpretation and hydrogeology as it relates to projects conducted under the guidelines of staff hydrogeologists, LSPs and senior scientists. They perform field work that includes sample collection, data evaluation, tabulation and calculations, report preparation, computer modeling, and have excellent computer skills. Geologists are also responsible for overseeing the installation of monitoring wells and the collection and other methods of collecting soil, groundwater and air data. They are responsible for report preparation, presentations to clients and regulatory agencies. They perform project work within budgets provided and are responsible for meeting project deadlines. Geologists are 40 hour HAZWOPER trained.
Minimum Education and Training: B. S. degree in Geology or other applicable environmental discipline
Years of Experience: 3 to 5 years
Technical Assistant
Technical Assistants support projects related to their field of study. This could include fisheries, wildlife, wetlands, and restoration of wetlands, rivers, coastal banks, geology or hydrogeology. They perform scientific field work, data collection, and conduct field observation tasks. They are responsible for summarizing and evaluating results. The Assistant may also hold special licenses such as pesticide applicator or stormwater certification.
Minimum Education and Training: B.S. or Associates degree.

Field Technicians
Field technicians are responsible for field sampling; installation of monitoring wells for wetland projects, collecting GIS data, collecting stormwater data, installation of plants in support of restoration projects, and all aspects of data collection in support of project work.

Administration Assistant
Provides support to the accounting department and all staff members as necessary. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for preparing and setting up project jobs in the computer system and maintaining hard copies of material for the project files. They are also responsible for office tasks that include answering the phone, distributing mail, supporting staff in the preparation of documents, and submittal of documents and the completion of general errands, as they are appropriate.
