New England Environmental Inc. (NEE) wildlife biologists and botanists provide expert assessments of rare species in compliance with local, state and federal regulations. NEE has a staff of biologists with expertise in rare species found in New England including: reptiles and amphibians; vernal pool species; dragonflies and damselflies; moths and butterflies; mussels and snails; birds, mammals and plants (grasses, sedges, flowering plants, shrubs and trees). For wildlife species assessments, NEE will trap and monitor species movements using radio telemetry for pre-construction surveys, and during construction activities to insure that animals are not harmed.

NEE biologists have been approved by the Massachusetts Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program (NHESP) to complete rare plant and wildlife surveys, as well as to develop the sampling protocols necessary to implement the surveys. NEE biologists are familiar with the Massachusetts Endangered Species Act (MESA) regulations to assist clients in their project planning and permitting.

If rare species are found within a project area, NEE assists clients in their project design to avoid or minimize impacts to the species of concern, as well as maintain project goals. NEE will work to develop habitat mitigation plans, or conservation plans which will lead to a net benefit for the species of concern.

NEE wildlife biologists provide wildlife habitat assessments of wetlands as required under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act.
